Counting My Blessings
I don’t even know where to begin with this post. I have had such a blessed weekend and I just had to share it with you! I sure hope that you don’t mind.
It started off with being able to spend Friday evening and all day Saturday with my daughter here at home. The men folk were away at a conference so we decided to watch some movies and relax most of the weekend. Fun times with my wonderful daughter. I am blessed!!
Sunday was a busy day and I suppose that’s why such a lazy Friday evening and Saturday were a necessity. We left at 7:15 yesterday morning to head to Pennsylvania. Ralph, my dh, spoke at the church that we attended when we lived in Philadelphia. It was great to be back there and visit with folks that we’ve known for over 20 years! I have to admit that being back there made me miss Philly even more! I loved living there and would love to go back some day. But for now, the Lord has us in NYC and that’s where we will stay until He calls us elsewhere. I am blessed!!
After a lovely lunch and some visiting with some of the church folks, we headed north about 30 miles to the church where I grew up. Dh also spoke there in their evening service. This had been pre-arranged to be their harvest home service. Hmmm, I can hear you asking, “What’s a harvest home service?” Basically, the church decided on a missionary / ministry family that would benefit and be blessed by a food donation. The church people bring in non-perishable food items that are then sent home with the chosen family. We happened to be that family this year. Over our 18 years of ministry, we have been blessed to be harvest home recipients numerous times. Needless to say, we literally came home with a carload of food. I didn’t get any pics of the food packed in the car, but I thought that I would share some pics after the food was unpacked onto the dining room table and then crammed into the pantry. I am blessed!!

more of the pantry -- what you don’t see in these pictures is how deep these shelves are. They are easily 2.5-3 feet deep filled with canned goods. Not a practical depth for ease of use, but that’s what what there when we moved into this house and we didn’t want to change them. I am blessed!!

Hopefully these pictures showed you a little bit of why I feel so blessed. Each one of those cans, bottles, boxes of pasta, packs of toilet paper, rolls of paper towels, etc. meant that someone somewhere sacrificed something for us!! I am truly blessed!! I just can’t count all of my blessings. Mostly I am blessed because of the ultimate sacrifice that my Lord and Saviour made when he shed His blood and chose me to become one of His own! I am blessed!!
I guess you sort of get the picture by now -- I am blessed!! Do I have everything that I want? Not by a long shot, but I do have everything that I need and that’s far more important than having everything that I want. My Lord never promised me that He would give me everything that I wanted, but He did promise that I would have all that I need (And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19) and I can’t ask for more than that! I truly am blessed!!
I’d love to know how you have been blessed. Please feel free to share your comments with me. I promise to read every one!
Blessings,

I am touched by your weekend story and the pictures. I too am blessed. I have been going through a nasty divorce for the past 1 1/2 years, but through it all I have my wonderful little 3 year old boy who brings me so much joy and happiness. I have my supportive parents. I have my health. I too have the Savior who leads me, guides me and lifts me up during the difficult times. Thank you for sharing all that you are in word and talent.
Wonderful story, there are so many good and generous people out there. My one GD turned 9 this year and once again she had a fabulous birthday party and not because she received many presents for herself. The presents that she requests and receives are food for the pantry in their neighborhood. She also did this when she was 5 and last year when she was 8. I am so blessed to know and love her.
I am so glad you have had a good weekend. A more deserving person? Well, I can't think of one.
Thank you for your post. It really did make me stop to count my blessings ....... where do I start.
A loving husband & son
A caring family
Supportive & encouraging friends
A roof over my head
Food in the cupboard
A husband who is employed in a good secure job
And I know this will sound strange considering my Fibro and Nerve problems limit what I am able to do but I am blessed with good health as apart from the chronic pain I am fit & healthy.
So many blessings - thank you so much for jogging my memory. Hugs to you.
That is beautiful. I'm so glad for you - rich blessings indeed. :)
