I'm In the Mitten

I have arrived in the mitten -- the state of Michigan! The flights yesterday went well even though I don't like to fly. Today we went out for breatkfast, had pedicures, shopped and had an early dinner. What a relaxing day!

I even thought to bring the camera with me so that I could try my hand at taking photos of fireworks on the 4th. While waiting in Milwaukee yesterday for my connecting flight, I thought that it would be fun to document this trip and start by taking pictures at the airport. I pulled out the camera, turned it on and got the dreaded "no card" message! I had left the memory card at home and I knew right where it was -- on my desk in the dungeon. I had taken it down there to transfer pics to the computer and had forgotten to take it back up and put it in the camera. So, with dh's permission to use the credit card, I purchased a new 2 GB card today. Now I can have up to 1640 pics on the card before I have to download them to my computer. I shouldn't run out of space for quite some time!

I just wanted to check in with you all. Hope you are getting lots of scrapping done using my latest freebie kit! I want to see those pages when you get finished, so be sure to send me links!

Blessings,
Carolyn

P.S. Don't forget about the blog train that leaves the station in a few days. It's going to be a great one!

Last

This is the last part of “A June Wedding” and it’s lots of ribbons and bows.  I love to do my pages with these kinds of elements and usually have a lot of them in a kit -- probably too many!  LOL!!  But that’s how it is for me.

Here’s the preview and links for the last part of this freebie kit.

You probably won’t hear from me for a while.  I still have lots to do before I leave early, early Friday morning.  I’ll try to update you all a little while I’m away, but you know how it goes.  Vacation means, at least for me, time to get away from the day to day stuff, including the computer.  But we’ll see!  Hopefully I’ll come back with lots of ideas and be raring to design some more!

Misc Elements

I know that I am usually quite chatty, but recently there have been some things weighing heavily on my mind and heart.  I think that I’ve finally let go of the past and am moving on to bigger and better things.  That’s how I feel this morning, anyway.  Let’s hope it’s true.

Because of this, I haven’t felt much like designing for the store or as freebies.  My mind just wasn’t in the right gear or something.  I’m still not geared up for designing, so I will be taking a little time off.  I’ll be in Michigan for 10 days (leaving on Friday) and I’m hoping to be up and running again soon after I get home.  But we will see.  Computer time also must be limited because of issues I’ve had in the past with my neck and back.

But on to today’s goodies.  This is a pack of miscellaneous elements -- bookplates, photo corners, and tulip clips.  A word about photo corners.  You will notice that there are two sets and 4 in each set.  To get the correct shadow placement, you can’t just have one photo corner and rotate it.  The shadows wouldn’t be right.  My father, the artist, would be so proud!  Anyway, to make sure that each one had the right shadow, there are four of them for each set.  I think that you can see what I mean from the preview.  Links for this freebie are below.

Enjoy your day and come back tomorrow for the last installment of “A June Wedding”.

Lazy Day in Brooklyn

Today is one of those days when I don’t want to do a thing.  I slept in, wasted time on the computer this morning, made lunch, played a computer game and now I’m posting today’s freebie for you and it’s only 2:30 pm.  I love days like this occasionally.

Yesterday was such a busy day.  After church we went to visit our kids for a few hours.  It was good to see them again after 3 weeks and see how they are flourishing.  I even took the camera to get some pics of them, but forgot the memory card.  When I went to turn the camera on, I got the dreaded “no card” message.  I had forgotten that I had brought it down to my computer here in the dungeon and transferred pics from it to my computer and forgot to take it back up to the camera.  Oh well, maybe next time.

Today’s freebie is the last pack of paper for “A June Wedding”.  Enjoy this freebie!

Only two parts of this kit are left -- ribbons and miscellaneous elements (for lack of a better designation).  Ha!  Come back tomorrow for more.  Maybe I’ll even have something that I want to say.  Today is a quiet day, a lazy day!

Flowers

Don’t you just love flowers?  I especially like what can be done with them these days and make them just about any color that you can imagine!  That’s what I decided to do with the flowers for this kit -- I colored them to match the 6 colors of this kit.  They are huge in format, but you can size them down.  Freebie preview and links below.

It’s another rainy day here in Brooklyn and usually I absolutely love the rain, but I think it’s finally getting to me.  I have a horrendous sinus headache and I’m feeling so blue today.  The backyard is such a mess with weeds and what little grass we have is about knee high.  It seems that any day that it’s been nice enough to be outside to get the grass cut, we’ve been away.  All the days that we are home it rains.  Fortunately the front yard looks nice thanks to the yard guys.  Our neighbor pays to have his front yard taken care of and was told that it wouldn’t cost anything additional to do our yard too.  Since we basically share a front yard (we live in half a double) we get our yard done for free!  It’s been great; otherwise, our neighbor would be totally upset with us.

On my soapbox so if you don’t want to read, just skip down to the next paragraph.  I feel that it’s my dh’s job to do the yard and take care of the house repairs (or pay someone else to do it) since I do the inside stuff.  It’s a fair trade, don’t you think?  That’s how I grew up and that’s how most of the people I know have handled the outside work.  I’ll work on flower beds, but I won’t weed wack the lawn (and believe me, our yard is SO small that’s all that needs to be done and takes about 10 minutes!).  For some reason, though, my dh won’t do it.  So we look like poor slobs and I feel really bad for the neighbors that have to put up with us.  I guess I’ll have to go out on the next nice day and do it myself.  Otherwise the weeds will be waist high on me!

Off my soapbox now.  Sorry for that rant.  It’s just a sore spot with me.

There are only 3 parts of “A June Wedding” left.  That’s a good thing because next Friday I’m leaving on a jet plane for places north.  I’ll be visiting my sil in Michigan from June 26-July 6.  There will be a blog train leaving the station while I’m gone, but my part is finished and uploaded and I’ll get the post scheduled so that you won’t miss out.

Tomorrow I’ll be gone all day, again, at church in the morning and then heading to PA to visit our kids.  I really miss them and haven’t seen them for 3 weeks.  This empty nest syndrome is not what it is cracked up to be, at least in my opinion.  So, no more freebies until Monday.

Have a great weekend and be blessed!

Girly Girl

That’s your freebie for today -- something for those girl pages.  This little gift to you is definitely not for boys, unless you like lacey things on a boy’s page.  Here’s the preview and links for this freebie.

It’s really hard to show lacey things in a preview and with the drop shadows it makes them look so dark, but without the shadows you hardly see them.  Anyway, there are really 6 doilies and 7 laces in this freebie, but I didn’t put them all on the preview.  I didn’t even feel like making this preview, but I promised you something, so there you have it.

However, I’m not going to promise anything for tomorrow.  I’ll be gone most of the day and may not have time to post anything.  But I will be home on Saturday and will try to get something posted then for you.

I’m off to play with my new birthday present!

Stripes

Another part of “A June Wedding” is coming your way.  This part is a pack of 6 striped papers.  It’s amazing how much I forgot about this kit since I made it last year.  I’m not thrilled with these papers but I decided to give them to you anyway.  It was either that or ditch them and I thought that MAYBE someone might like them.  Again, if you don’t I won’t be hurt.  I think that they are pretty bad!  LOL!!  Anyway, here’s this freebie and links.

Lilies and Roses

I’ve been promising you some pictures of the lovely roses and lilies in our backyard.  I finally have some time to post them so here they are.  No explanation is needed -- the beauty speaks for itself!

Unfortunately the background of the rose pictures is not the best, but the bush is right against the fence and in front of the neighbor’s pool (well the part under the deck).  I’ll have to see about fixing that, but I think that you get the general idea.  The hard, pounding rain that we have had recently has really destroyed the roses, but they were beautiful while they lasted.  And since I took the pictures of the lilies, we’ve had more of them bloom!  God’s creation is amazing!
